Loke – Liseberg, Sweden

On April 29th 2017, Liseberg Amusement Park in Gothenburg, Sweden started public operation of Europe’s highest and most impressive GYRO SWING named “LOKE”.

In Norse mythology, LOKE was the most treacherous and devious of all the giants of Asgard. He cunningly and cold-bloodedly forged plans to kill the kindest and best-loved of the gods, BALDER.

After the great success of BALDER, one of the biggest and most thrilling wooden coaster in the world (supplied by Intamin and opened 2003), and now the opening of LOKE, the battle between the two giants has begun. LOKE will swing scarily close to BALDER and even higher, so that it feels as if the attractions will collide.

The swinging pendulum of LOKE, reaches a top speed of 100km/h combined with a comfortable speed of rotation of the gondola. Most important of all is the suspended seating arrangement for 40 passengers, all facing outward, producing a sensational feeling of flying. As the pendulum passes through the vertical position, the passengers experience the thrill of increased G-forces. Swinging to a height of 42 meters with a 120 degree angle of swing, the sensation of almost complete weightlessness is dazzling any rider daring to try out LOKE. With a ride duration of over one and a half minutes and a capacity of 900 passengers per hour, this ride makes you hold your breath as you are thrown into battle.

Besides the seats and the restraint, which both are guaranteeing highest passenger comfort, andsome other components also the main drive is a complete new design. The direct drive is very powerful and at the same time almost noiseless. Intamin’s GYRO SWING is not only very spectacular, it is probably the most silent round ride of this class and size.

Intamin is proud of having contributed once again to the success of Liseberg and would like to thank the entire team for the great cooperation.
